Canvas Family Tree
Like I have mentioned before, my mom loves handmade gifts. This art project turned out to be one of my favorite things that I have made for her. It is really very simple and it will take you no time to create one of your own. You will need a piece of canvas, acrylic paint and a print out of family names. I printed mine on light yellow cardstock. The thickness of the paper kept it from getting crinkled. The shade made it look a bit more antique.
Start by swirling different shades of blue around to make the sky. Spread it down until it covers about 3/4 of the canvas. After that use a mix of greens to make the grass. After that, start building your tree. I made a small outline and gradually added to the size until I has happy with it. Once the paint was dry, I cut out everyone’s name and grouped the small family sections together in chronological order. After the pattern was appropriate, I began gluing them all into place. Seal them with Mod Podge once the adhesive is dry.
This looks really nice hanging near family photos. It was a fun project and could be a really enjoyable way to research for family lineage.
