Sharpie Coasters

My inner kiddo loves coloring. I’m surprised it took me so long to try out this projects. I have been hearing about sharpie coasters for a while now. The concept is pretty simple. Just color your coasters with sharpie markers, drop alcohol on them and seal them once they’re dry. BOOM! Easy peasy. This is a very inexpensive project to do, especially if you have a lot of sharpies around the house already. The coasters cost fifteen cents each at Lowes.

I grabbed a few markers and did a rough chevron pattern. The only thing I changed after I took this initial picture was add a few black stripes.

To get the alcohol out, I just stuck a straw in the bottle and brought out a few drops at a time. I did one layer and once it was dry, hit it with more alcohol on spots that seemed untouched.

It is very important that you spray it with an aerosol sealer before you use any Mod Podge. This will keep the colors from smearing. I used three coats to make sure nothing would be wiped away.

I can’t wait to put these to use! I think I will probably gift them. Have you guys tried this before? What worked for you?
