You heard me right folks. This delicious festival of flavors has 3 easy ingredients. Even a novice could breeze through this treat with no problems. I went to the grocery store with the intention of getting supplies to make something else, then I noticed the apple pie filling that was on clearance. This dessert was destined to be. In addition to the two cans of filling, you also need a box of yellow cake mix and half a stick of butter.
It really was as easy as dump and bake. First, pour the two cans of pie filling into a buttered dish. Once they are spread evenly, pour the dry cake mix on top.
Spread that out evenly as well and then thinly slice your half stick of butter. Want to make your life easier? Stick the butter in the freezer for a few minutes before you use it. That makes is much easier to slice! Place the butter tabs on top.
Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes to achieve a really nice crust on top.
Typically, I just serve this in bowls if it is just us. If you are serving people or just want to feel fancy, you can always get creative and serve it in a glass instead.
My hubby and I both gobbled this up. The best part? It cost less than $5 to make. Win win. 🙂
